Stage 1 · Handle it
Weight and balance in your hand.
Four areas, bought in small batches and chosen for use.
We buy things we would use ourselves, which means we can tell you whether a pan actually conducts heat evenly and whether a glaze is food-safe and dishwasher-safe. Handmade ceramics vary piece to piece — that is the material, not a defect, and we point it out so nobody is surprised.
Weight and balance in your hand.
Dishwasher, oven, everyday or not.
Shown, so it is expected.
How to keep it well.
Weave and weight, not a description.
What it is and how it behaves.
Shrinkage and creasing explained.
Written on the label and said aloud.
Natural fibres shrink, linen creases permanently and some dyes run on a first wash. None of that is a fault and all of it is worth knowing before you buy a set for a dinner. We will tell you what to expect from the first wash rather than letting you find out.
Lamps are sold as supplied, with the maximum bulb wattage and fitting type stated. We do not carry out electrical installation — anything needing hard wiring goes to a licensed electrician, and we will say so rather than implying it is a simple job.
Where we can, in the shop.
Bulb type, wattage and fitting.
Hard wiring goes to an electrician.
What will and will not fit in a car.
Tell us, and we will work to it.
Including cheaper ones that are better.
Properly, at no charge.
So they have options.
A gift receipt means the recipient can exchange within our policy without knowing what you paid. Ask for one — it costs nothing and is the single most useful thing you can add to a gift that might not be quite right.
Ask us — if we do not stock it, we will say whether it is worth ordering.
